I suggest the Office of Urban Policy...

Create an alternative energy infrastructure system

support the development of charging stations for electric vehicles and "green fuel" stations, especially in dense/urban areas.

Promoting electric vehicles is a great way to reduce urban pollution, encourage battery innovation and continued expansion of "green" electric generation. I will be more than happy to trade the gas, motor oil, exhaust and wasted heat that my current car produces for an electric vehicle when they are feasible.

Electric vehicles are not necessarily a "green" technology. Basically the main effect would be switching from oil to coal as a fuel source. If we switch a substantial portion of our power mix to wind, then this might start being a reliable green tech. There are also un-solved problems about battery technology; it simply doesn't exist right now.

Encouraging distributed power production would have added benefits of increased wealth and better system stability as well as lowered maintenance costs.
