Allow architects to have a larger input in city design
Most infrastructure projects are largely done by civic engineers and while there are many great things civic engineers, I believe that allowing architects to be involved in the planning and design of cities will create much more dynamic change to the way in which our cities function. After all, the difference between an engineer and architect is that an engineer knows everything about one thing and architects know a little about everything.. theres so much more to consider when creating the infrastructure besides structure and zoning. Social, cultural, political, environmental changes or enhancements can be made through the creative input of architects who have always had a history of rethinking the city.

I agree with Jason. I wondered if you realizee that there is a profession that currently exists in most cities as you describe? They are professional planners. They earn degrees, can be certified (AICP) and are schooled from the begining to look at all aspects of communities and regions as a whole; knowing a little about everything. They do not recieve the recognition or respect they deserve.

While I agree with this, I would also like to suggest that the list of people who should be involved in infrastructure design (but who too often are not) be expanded to community planners, urban designers, and landscape architects. Architects are not the only ones who know a little about everything.
